Wet Spot Policies:

At Wet Spot Grooming & Pet Care, the comfort and safety of every pet comes first. These policies help us provide safe, efficient and high-quality care while keeping expectations clear for everyone.
Pricing and Estimates
All listed prices are starting prices. Final pricing may vary depending on your dog’s:
-
Size and weight
-
Coat type, density and condition
-
Matting or excessive shedding
-
Behaviour and handling requirements
-
Grooming frequency
-
Drying time
-
Requested style or amount of scissoring
-
Additional time or products required
Â
We are happy to provide an estimate, but the final price may not be confirmed until we have assessed your dog in person and completed the service.
Â
Appointments and Arrival Times:
Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may need to have their appointment shortened, rescheduled or cancelled, depending on the groomer’s schedule.
We carefully schedule each dog to allow enough time for safe, unhurried care. Late arrivals can affect the appointments booked after yours.
Â
Cancellations and Rescheduling:
We require at least 48 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
Late cancellations leave an appointment space that is often difficult to refill and may be subject to a cancellation fee. Repeated late cancellations may require a deposit or prepayment before future appointments can be booked.
Â
No-Shows:
Appointments missed without notice may be charged a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service.
Clients with repeated no-shows may be required to prepay before booking again or may no longer be eligible to schedule future appointments.
Â
Pick-Up and Grooming Daycare:
We will contact you when your dog is finished and ready to go home. Please arrange to pick up your dog promptly after receiving our message.
Grooming appointments generally take approximately two to three hours, although timing may vary depending on the dog, service and salon schedule.
A grooming daycare fee of $5 per additional half hour may apply when a dog remains at the salon for more than three hours after their scheduled drop-off time, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Â
Matting and Coat Condition:
Your dog’s comfort will always come before preserving coat length.
We do not perform painful or excessive de-matting. When matting is severe, a shorter shave-down may be the safest and most humane option. Removing tightly matted hair can reveal redness, bruising, sores, parasites or other skin conditions that were previously hidden.
De-matting is charged at $1.50 per minute, with a minimum charge of $15. We will stop de-matting if we believe continuing would cause unnecessary discomfort or stress.
We will make every reasonable effort to discuss major coat or style changes with you. However, immediate decisions may occasionally be necessary to protect your dog’s welfare.
Â
Behaviour and Extra Handling:
Please tell us about any history of biting, aggression, severe anxiety, sensitivity or difficulty during grooming.
Dogs requiring additional time, restraint, safety support or specialized handling may be charged an extra handling fee of $15 to $30 or more, depending on the circumstances.
We may modify, pause or discontinue a service if a dog becomes excessively stressed or if continuing would be unsafe for the dog or our staff. Completing every part of a groom is never more important than your dog’s wellbeing.
Â
Health and Medical Conditions:
Please let us know about any medical conditions, injuries, recent surgeries, allergies, medications, seizures, mobility concerns or other health changes before your appointment.
Senior dogs and dogs with medical conditions may require a modified service, additional breaks or a shorter appointment. In some cases, we may recommend grooming through a veterinary clinic.
Although we take every reasonable precaution, grooming can occasionally reveal or aggravate an existing condition. Wet Spot is not responsible for health problems caused by undisclosed or pre-existing medical conditions.
Â
Fleas and Parasites:
Please do not bring a dog with known fleas, lice or other contagious parasites into the salon.
If parasites are discovered during an appointment, the service may be stopped or modified. A flea or parasite sanitation fee of $25 or more may be charged to cover the additional cleaning, treatment and disruption required to protect other pets in our care.
Â
Nail Trims:
Nail trims are offered as a walk-in service and are subject to staff availability. Appointment dogs and scheduled services will be prioritized, so walk-in clients may occasionally need to wait or return at a later time.
Standard nail trims are $20. A $5 difficult-handling fee may apply when a pet requires extra time, caution, restraint or safety support.
For safety reasons, we may be unable to complete a nail trim if the pet is extremely distressed or poses a significant bite risk.
Â
Daycare Timing:
A half day of daycare is any stay under four hours.
A full day of daycare is any stay of four hours or longer.
Dogs must complete our evaluation process before participating in regular daycare or specialized activities. Continued participation is based on each dog’s behaviour, comfort and suitability within the daycare environment.
Â
Puppies and First Grooms:
A puppy’s first grooming appointment is focused on building comfort and trust. Young dogs may not receive a perfect or fully finished haircut during their first visit.
We may begin with shorter introductory services and gradually increase the amount of grooming completed as the puppy becomes more comfortable with the process.
Â
Service Limitations:
We do not perform procedures that we believe may cause unnecessary pain, fear or risk.
Wet Spot does not provide internal anal gland expression. Clients with concerns about their dog’s anal glands should contact their veterinarian.
We reserve the right to adjust, pause or decline any service when we believe it is in the best interest of the pet or necessary for staff safety.
Â
Payment:
Payment is due when services are completed and your pet is picked up.
Any concerns regarding the service or final price should be discussed before leaving the salon. Refusal to pay may result in the suspension of future services and further collection action where appropriate.
Â
Respectful Client Conduct:
We are committed to treating our clients, their pets and our team with patience and respect. We expect the same treatment in return.
Yelling, swearing at staff, threats, harassment, discrimination, aggressive confrontation or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to immediately end a conversation, appointment or client relationship when someone’s conduct creates an unsafe or hostile environment.
Â
Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service:
Wet Spot reserves the right to refuse, modify or discontinue service due to:
-
Safety concerns
-
Aggressive or dangerous behaviour
-
Severe stress or anxiety
-
Undisclosed bite history or medical conditions
-
Illness, injury or suspected contagious conditions
-
Severe matting or unsafe coat conditions
-
Repeated missed appointments or policy violations
-
Abusive or disrespectful client conduct
-
Refusal to pay for completed services
These decisions are never made lightly. Our priority will always be providing humane care while protecting the pets and people inside our salon.
Â
By booking an appointment with Wet Spot Grooming & Pet Care, clients acknowledge and agree to these policies.
